The Furthest Station by Ben Aaronovitch
My rating: 4 of 5 stars
A Rivers of London novella where Peter and crew investigate ghost sightings on the outermost bits of the Metropolitan Line (if you don’t know the Rivers of London series, definitely start at the beginning, they’re really wryly funny supernatural police procedurals, the first few books are fantastic – and the audiobooks are brilliant – but I do worry the series is going off the boil a little, with the latest books).
It was great being back in the Rivers of London world. My only tiny criticism is the bits put in explaining British terms to Americans, they were a bit jarring and would temporarily take me out of the story. I can read and understand American books without explanations for some of the terms used, so I would think that it would work the other way round too.
